Lemon Myrtle

Kaiyu

This beautiful native shrub grows naturally in the wet coastal areas of northern NSW and southern Queensland. The leaves have an amazing citrus aroma when crushed and can be used fresh or dried in a variety of dishes including biscuits, dressings, sauces, scones, desserts, syrups and teas.

Indigenous Australians recognised the anti bacterial and anti-fungal properties of the plant and boiled the leaves to produce medicinal teas, insect repellents and skin treatments.
