Mountain Pepper Leaf

Natif

Mountain pepper leaf grows naturally in the forests and cool climates of southern NSW, Victoria and Tasmania. The small tree grows up to five metres in height and the green leaves are used like pepper when dried.

Mountain pepper leaf contains strong antioxidants, vitamin E, lutein and other minerals. The antioxidants can help to prevent a variety of common diseases and lutein is important for maintaining good eye health.

Traditionally, mountain pepper was used for its antiseptic properties and flavour. First Nations people often made a paste of crushed pepper leaves and berries to apply to sore gums and toothaches.
