Anangu Goanna

This wooden goanna has been hand carved and decorated by Anangu craftsmen at Indulkana (also known as Iwantja) in South Australia. It is believed to be more than 30 years old. 

Burning items with hot stones or wire is a traditional method of decoration in the Indulkana area.

100cm long x 7cm wide x 9cm high (at each end).
