Gwamu Rain Maker

Nullawokka First Nations Gallery

Traditionally, First Nations people used rain makers (also known as rain sticks) in ceremonies, to attract the notice of the spirits to provide rain.

Gwamu elder Nullabill Speedy has handcrafted and decorated this rain maker.  Filled with hundreds of tiny pebbles this beautiful instrument produces the sound of falling rain when tilted.
